18 Mind-Blowing Facts About Blade Runner

15. Deckard’s Futuristic Home Is Real

Blade Runner Ridley Scott
Warner Bros.

Blade Runner’s cityscape may have been fake but Deckard’s futuristic looking home was a hundred per cent real (almost).

The exterior of Los Angeles’ real-life Ennis House, built in 1924 and designed by architect Frank Lloyd Wright in a Mayan Revival style, was used in the drive-up scene as Deckard arrives home after inspecting replicant Leon’s hotel room.

The interiors of Deckard’s apartment were filmed on a Warner Brothers Studio stage but took inspiration from the inside of Ennis House, in particular the ornate Mayan-style textile blocks Wright crafted the structure from. It’s also been featured in Twin Peaks, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and The Karate Kid Part III.
