18 More Things You Didn't Know About The Terminator
2. James Cameron Cameos
Director cameos have been a staple in the movie industry since the days of Alfred Hitchcock. Many film directors like Peter Jackson, M. Night Shyamalan, and Joe Russo have inserted themselves into their own work throughout their careers.
James Cameron also honoured this tradition by playing a small role in The Terminator. (Considering Cameron doesn't cameo in most of his other movies, it's likely he did this just to save money.) If you are a huge fan of the franchise, you may already know that the voice on the answering machine that tells Sarah Connor he's blowing off their date belongs to the legendary Canadian director.
But most viewers don't realise that Cameron plays ANOTHER role in the movie. He serves as the manager of The Tiki Hotel, which Sarah and Kyle hide at after the police shootout. Cameron isn't seen but his voice can be heard when the pair ask for a room at the desk.
It's also worth mentioning that, save for his role as a dancer in Titanic, this is the only time Cameron cameoed in his own film.
