18 Things You Somehow Missed In Reservoir Dogs

7. Five Guys

Reservoir Dogs
Miramax

Joe’s plan to bring a group of men together to rob a diamond store during open hours in broad daylight was bold. Such a job needed a team of trusted professionals, and a water-tight strategy to get in and out within two minutes.

However, it seems that even Joe forgot about how many people he was hiring. At first, he tells Larry it is a five-man job, despite the fact that there are clearly six people wearing the black suits. This is explained later however, as Vic Vega wasn’t added until afterward.

And yet, when Joe actually has his team together and is giving his instructions, he loses count. He reels off the aliases of Mr. Brown, Mr. White, Mr. Blonde, Mr. Blue, Mr. Orange, and Mr. Pink, before referencing that there are five men.

He literally just went through a roll call six names long, but says that if they get caught they will be five guys in a bullpen. Reportedly Lawrence Tierney misspoke during this scene, but if you look at the line in the vacuum of the movie, did he subconsciously know or at least suspect that one of his guys was a cop and wouldn’t join the rest of them in prison?
