18 Things You Somehow Missed In Reservoir Dogs
14. Mr. Orange Ratted Out Mr. Pink
For all of its action, for all its blood and guts, severed ears, and bullet-riddled corpses, Reservoir Dogs is a very dialogue-heavy movie. Of course, this is no problem for anyone, as the conversations between the characters are even more compelling than the action.
The very first scene shows Joe’s crew, including his son and Joe himself, sharing a meal and talking before the job. One of the major subjects that the men discuss is tipping, started off by Mr. Pink’s refusal to kick in a dollar for the waitress.
Joe offered to pay for the meal, so long as his crew covered the tip, though when he returned to the table, he was a dollar short. When he asked who hadn’t chipped in, it wasn’t Mr. Pink himself who admitted he hadn’t paid, it was Mr. Orange.
At the time this wasn’t something that provoked much thought, but looking back, this was clever foreshadowing that Orange was the rat. Even with absolutely nothing at stake, and without any hesitation, the undercover cop ratted out Mr. Pink to Joe.
