18 Things You Somehow Missed In Reservoir Dogs
13. The Advert For Jack Rabbit Slim's
There are some details in Reservoir Dogs that stand out like a sore thumb and are impossible to miss. Others require at least an extra viewing or two before they are caught, while some are almost impossible to catch without the help of subtitles, a 50th watch, and the internet.
One such detail in Reservoir Dogs came just after Mr. Blonde cut Marvin Nash's ear off, and was shot dead by Mr. Orange for it. The scene is arguably most famous for the musical choice even more so than the mutilation of Marvin Nash, but the radio offered so much more than just ‘Stuck in the Middle with You’.
There is a moment, as blink-and-you’ll-miss-it as they come, in which the song ends and is replaced with an advert for Jack Rabbit Slim’s. This just shows the genius of Tarantino, that he was able to throw in an Easter Egg for arguably his most iconic ever scene, two years before it was even released.
Jack Rabbit Slim’s is, of course, the 50s diner in which Vincent Vega, the dying Mr. Blonde’s brother, danced with Mia Wallace. The sheer amount and hidden depths of the connections between Tarantino’s movies are quite honestly ridiculous.
