18 Upcoming Villains Who Will Be More Interesting Than The Heroes
9. Bodhi - Point Break
The Hero: Undercover cop extraordinaire, Johnny Utah. Famously played by Keanu Reeves, Australian Luke Bracey will step into his shoes as he tries to foil a group of extreme bank robbers.
The Villain: Filling in for the legendary Patrick Swayze, Edgar Ramirez stars as Bodhi, the charismatic extreme athlete turned bank robber.
Why The Villain Will Be More Interesting: Luke Bracey is not a very good actor. He’s fairly wooden so making him play the similarly straight-edged Johnny Utah doesn’t exactly inspire a great deal of excitement concerning the hero.
Conversely, Edgar Ramirez is a natural charmer and a very underrated actor, perhaps the lone thing giving this movie any sort of credibility. In past interviews, it’s been clear how passionate he is for the original film, and that is sure to carry throughout his performance.
Looking back to the original Point Break, it’s clearly Swayze’s Bodhi who steals the show, slowly pulling in both Utah and the audience. The trailer for the film looked surprisingly okay and naturally, Bodhi was the standout, so expect this new version to be the star once again.
