1. The Best Picture Mix-Up

And finally, the night ended with a clusterf*** of biblical proportions as Bonnie and Clyde stars Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway came out to present the Best Picture winner.

After briefly hesitating in what most presumed to be playful fashion, Beatty showed the envelope to Dunaway, who announced La La Land as the winner.

About a minute into their victory speech, however, La La Land's producer Jordan Horowitz announced that there was a mistake and the wrong name had been read: Moonlight was the actual Best Picture winner.

The Oscars' accounting firm, PricewaterhouseCoopers, later confirmed that Beatty had been handed a duplicate Best Actress envelope, which explains his hesitation, and Dunaway presumably just saw "La La Land" on the card and read it out to speed things along.

All in all it's certainly going to end up the most talked-about Best Picture win of all time, though hopefully won't overshadow the actual fact that Moonlight deservedly defeated the odds-on favourite, La La Land.

Also, props to Jordan Horowitz for being basically the only person involved, including the Oscars' producers, to have a cool head and keep things vaguely on track.
