19. Broken Horses - Vincent D'Onofrio
Rotten Tomatoes score: 21% Vincent DOnofrio is widely regarded as an actors actor, known for his deep filmography, strong grasp on what makes a character truly tick and extremely awesome first name. In Daredevil, he was equal parts mesmerizing and intimidating as the staunch Kingpin, Wilson Fisk. Its with his portrayal of Fisk that DOnofrio established himself as one of the best, if not the GOAT, of Marvel live action villains. In what initially sounds like the title for a Bojack Horseman movie, Broken Horses features DOnofrio channelling some of that Kingpin aggression to portray gangster Julius Hench, the boss of the vulnerable and slow hitman, Buddy. When Buddys brother Jakey returns home to reunite with his estranged sibling and is forced to kill one of Henchs men in self defense, Hench goes on the warpath and the two brothers have to confront some ugly truths. Broken Horses is the American directorial debut from Bollywood filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra and has been described as having more style than substance. So not a Daredevil then. You should see this if: you want a crime thriller that adopts the tropes of a modern day Western with a pinch of absurdity and can overlook the directors tendency to overindulge themselves like an impulsive rabbit.
