Rotten Tomatoes score: 97% Spotlight is based upon the true story of how the Boston Globe revealed the horrible instances of child molestation taking place within the local Catholic Archdiocese and the subsequent cover-up by the powers within the Catholic Church. Okay, so this is not necessarily a movie that you will want to watch more than once as it deals with some intensely dark subject matter, but that doesnt stop it from being not only powerful but also completely necessary, because this type of s*** has been overlooked for far too long. Even the Vatican Radio called it "honest" and "compelling". A stellar ensemble lead you through this controversy, showing a painful human side to the discovery. Spotlight may deal with some dark elements but that doesnt mean it isnt entirely worth a watch; there is a reason why it has frequented many Top 10 lists for 2015. You should see this if: you enjoy movies that have the right incorporation of bite, boldness and bittersweet moments, containing a host of actors who give their all to a script that treats its complex subject matter with respect.
