Britain can play with the big boys when it comes to cracking final shoot-outs as displayed here with this interesting low-budget effort.

Despite a commanding lead performance by Toby Kebbell, the movie stumbles more often than not with its predictable structure. Still, it contains a thrilling and fiercely grounded action finale as Kebbell takes on a neighbourhood drug lord and his goons; effectively using his military rifle to brutally execute endless hooded assailants across the ghetto location.

The direction is impressively stripped-down, with every gunshot echoing across the grimy council estate. What's even more realistic is how Kebell accidentally murders an innocent mum who just happened to get in the way of the gunfire. It's a horrifying revelation that's rarely taken with vigilante action movies.

For its minor budget, director Matthew Hope should be commended for creating such a fine action scene that excites but also subverts the usual cookie-cutter conclusion.
