3. Psycho (1960)

The murder of Janet Leigh's character is probably one of the most famous deaths in cinematic history. The combination of the haunting score and the seventy seven camera angles that Hitchcock chose to shoot with made for an instantly iconic scene. All poor Marion wanted was a nice shower in a charming motel room and she couldn't even get that because she defied the number one motel room rule: never shower. Psycho is probably the reason why you get paranoid with shower curtains (or if someone is behind them), why you hate renting out a hotel room and why you always think there's someone, somewhere watching you.
