20 Actors That Crazily Turned Down Legendary Roles

1. Hugh Jackman - James Bond (Casino Royale)

hugh jackman bond There is not a more legendary role in the history of cinema than that of 007, James Bond. There have been a grand total of 23 Bond films, complete with five 5 very different actors and in my opinion, it is no coincidence that the worst Bond to date has been George Lazenby. Any particular reason? Oh that's right, he's Australian. So with this in mind, it's hard to believe that fellow Australian star Hugh Jackman was offered the role of James Bond in Casino Royale. Apart from the fact that Jackman looks half decent in a tux, he has no other traits that would make him a good Bond. It's already been proven that Australians can't play British spies, so why offer the role to another one? So all I can say is thank goodness he declined! But luckily for the rest of us, Jackman was too pre-occupied with his X-Men project that he had no choice but to decline. (Phew!) He also stated that at the time, he wasn't interested in the role. However, after what appears to be a miraculous U-turn on the matter, Jackman has "jokily" stated that he now "cries himself to sleep at night." This "joke" clearly shows that he desperately regrets passing on the legendary role, a role that is only offered to a handful of elite actors, such as the likes of Sean Connery and Daniel Craig. Unfortunately for us, it seems that Jackman hasn't yet given up hope of playing the MI6 Agent. He has recently stated that whenever Daniel Craig hangs up his Bond Boots, "he's ready and waiting." You may be ready and waiting, but I tell you what Hugh, we're not!
