20 Actors To Watch For In 2014

16. Chiwetel Ejiofor

He was the lead role in the brilliant Dirty Pretty Things, and since then he's appeared in Children of Men, 2012, Salt, Twelve Years a Slave and even Love Actually, nominated for awards left, right and centre for his fantastic performances. But will 2014 be the year that Ejiofor becomes a household name? With only sci-fi flick Z for Zachariah with Chris Pine announced so far, you'd get steep odds for it, but just look out for him in supporting roles. He's mercurial, immersive and incredibly underrated.

15. Greta Gerwig

Gretagerwig600Age: 30Nationality: AmericanMost notable role: Florence (Greenberg) Greta Gerwig writes, directs and stars in films, and though she's had very little mainstream work, you might recognise her from her roles in Arthur with Russell Brand, or No Strings Attached with Natalie Portman. Next year will see Gerwig star in Eden and Untitled Public School Project, the latter of which is directed by Noah Baumbach, who co-wrote and directed Frances Ha with her. Don't be surprised to see her featuring in more Hollywood rom-coms, but equally, don't be surprised if one of her indie films becomes huge.
