14. Karen Gillan
Age: 26Nationality: ScottishMost notable role: Amy (Doctor Who) Already a sci-fi fans' favourite, Karen Gillan is one of the most famous faces on this list. This time next year however, she's only going to be huger, thanks to a role in new romantic comedy The List, and a big role as the villainous Nebula, in the next Marvel film, Guardians of the Galaxy. You know, the one she shaved her head for. We saw Gillan go from hyperactive little girl to confident young woman in Doctor Who, and moving to Hollywood will hopefully bring out more sides of her acting; furthermore, what could a role in a Marvel film do for Gillan's career in general? You only have to look at the likes of Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Hemsworth to wonder.
13. Domhnall Gleeson
Age: 30Nationality: IrishMost notable role: Bill (Harry Potter) The lead male in Richard Curtis's About Time, could Domhnall Gleeson by the next Hugh Grant? Probably not - hopefully not, some might say - but the versatile Irishman definitely has a promising year ahead of him. Gleeson is starring in Angelina Jolie-directed Unbroken, will play the lead in Ex Machina, and will be the main supporting actor alongside Michael Fassbender in Frank. This is building on Hollywood roles in Dredd and True Grit and an eye-catching turn in Charlie Brooker's Black Mirror; Gleeson is certainly a rising star, and 2014 looks like it's going to be even bigger for him.
