For those with a penchant for genre films, Sir Ian Holm stands out for his stunning work on pictures like The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Alien, The Fifth Element, Time Bandits, and Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. The actor also nabbed himself numerous awards for his performance as Sam Mussabini in 1981's Chariots of Fire.

Having been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease nearly two decades ago, Sir Ian passed away on June 19 at 88 years of age.
