8. Least Convincing CGI - Justice League
For a movie that reportedly cost $300m after extensive reshoots, the shoddy CGI in Justice League is pretty inexcusable. From Batman's aerial scrap with a Parademon in the opening scene to the climactic third-act battle, the visual effects are frequently awful, resembling something that a video game cut-scene would be embarrassed by.
Flat, listless CGI backdrops give everything an overly-artificial sheen while the faceless and poorly-rendered Parademons create virtually no dramatic stakes. DC clearly learned nothing from their previous missteps by delivering yet another fully-CGI villain that massively disappoints, and it wouldn't be too bold to list Steppenwolf as one of the worst movie villains in a long time. Then of course, there is the famous incident surrounding Henry Cavill's mustache that resulted in the expensive (and distractingly obvious) removal of said facial hair in post-production.
After Wonder Woman there was genuine optimism going into Justice League, which unfortunately quickly evaporated as more and more bad buzz left the set. Hopefully the recent reshuffling at DC Films can finally see their cinematic universe maximize its undoubted potential. And please, no more CGI villains.
