20 Alternative 2017 Movie Awards
7. The Nicolas Cage Award For Starring In Absolutely Everything - James Franco
That's right, human meme-generator Nicolas Cage isn't even the recipient here as the former A-lister 'only' received seven credits to his name during 2017, all of which are straight-to-video features as Cage continues his self-necessitated descent into obscurity.
James Franco, often regarded as one of the busiest men in the industry, racked up a whopping nine film and two television credits in 2017. This hectic schedule saw him playing twins in HBO's The Deuce, costar in a Lifetime movie, have an uncredited cameo in Alien: Covenant and co-direct and produce horror flick The Institute. Most notably, Franco directed, starred in and produced The Disaster Artist, which saw the actor land a Golden Globe for playing Tommy Wiseau of all people.
The guy loves to work, that's for sure. And unlike fellow workaholic Cage, Franco seems to be doing it because he enjoys the job rather than a need to cash in every paycheck that comes his way. Or maybe the truth is somewhere in the middle.
