4. Namor The Sub-Mariner
Namor, the half-merman half-mutant king of Atlantis, has been around since 1939. In 1985, briefly deposed from his throne, he even joined the Avengers. But he's been in almost every superhero group going over the years, despite being a villain as often as a hero. Not that his attacks on humanity aren't justified - Mankind really is messing up Namor's undersea kingdom. Why he won't be in the Avengers movies: There is just too much to explain about Namor. Asgard is hard enough for audiences to accept, but Atlantis and mer-people too? On top of that, he's half-mutant, and there are rights issues with all that that aren't going to be worked out any time soon. The final nails in the coffin lid of his movie appearance have to be the tiny wings on his ankles. People would just laugh at them. And that's a real pity, because Namor's issues with Man are still as relevant today as they were back in the 1940s. In fact, with global environmental damage escalating by the day, his issues may even be more relevant now. Not that the MCU is going to reference global warming - there are too many climate change deniers in the U.S. who might get offended.
