14. The Lost Boys
Warner Bros.Blending the ubiquitous 80s teen movie genre with horror proved to be something of a masterstroke for Joel Schumacher, and The Lost Boys emerged as one of his most satisfying movies of the decade, making the most of a great cast while proving that he isn't such a terrible director after all (at least, not all of the time). If Daniel Larusso thought he had big problems facing up to bullies in The Karate Kid, that was nothing compared to the vampires who come into the lives of brothers Michael and Sam (played by Jason Patric and Corey Haim). With a tagline reading, Sleep all day. Party all night. Never grow old. Never die. Its fun to be a vampire." The Lost Boys featured a different breed of bloodsucker, as much partying juvenile delinquents as undead creatures of the night. But the real appeal for us kids watching this in the 80s was in the vampire-hunting Frog brothers, played by Corey Feldman and Jamison Newlander, their undead-destroying bag of tricks emulated by countless kids running around the playground fighting imaginary vampires.
