There are a lot of films from the 21st century which are far, far more deserving of a Top 250 spot than Gone Girl.
This attracted a bizarre amount of hype at the time and that's presumably the main reason it remains so high up. It's visually stunning and very well-acted, yet in the end it's a solid enough, watchable thriller that certainly isn't bad, but isn't that memorable either. A lot of people don't even seem to like it, and there are a lot of valid criticisms that can't be ignored.
Gone Girl is far too long at 2 and a half hours, can be silly and lacks the depth of the novel. The ending is bloody awful too. This is definitely not worthy of such a high spot, and to be honest there are few people who would argue otherwise.
Where It Should Be: Off the list.
