20 Baffling IMDb Top 250 Placements You Won't Believe

8. The Dark Knight Rises

Interstellar Cooper
Dreamworks

The Film:

The third and final film in Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy, which became part of the billion-dollar club and was generally well-received at the time.

Placement: #65

Why It's Wrong:

This may seem like jumping on a bandwagon. Everyone seemed to turn on The Dark Knight Rises after watching it a second time. Some of the backlash felt excessive at the time, but when you do re-watch The Dark Knight Rises, you learn a few new things... and they're not good.

Unfortunately, The Dark Knight Rises backlash is somewhat justified. It delivers on spectacle and performances, but it's far too long, Tom Hardy and Marion Cotillard are both wasted and as a story it's somewhat dry and absolutely full of gaping plot holes.

Considering the backlash, it's strange that this is still so high up. It certainly doesn't deserve its lofty position and is yet another example of something getting ranked incredibly high up simply because it's a Christopher Nolan film. Nolan is a very talented film director and maybe Hollywood's best at this time, but he's not perfect and there's no need to blow all his films out of proportion so much.

It's pretty unjust that Dunkirk, a far better Nolan movie, has fallen off the IMDb Top 250 recently, but this still remains in such a privileged position. The Dark Knight Rises is fun and well-made, but it needs to drop a bit.
