Music was a success for The Hunger Games; the first film’s soundtrack went straight to #1 on the Billboard Top 22, selling around 175,000 copies in its first week.
Many well-known musicians have their voices heard throughout the franchise, including Taylor Swift, Coldplay, Christina Aguilera, Lorde, amongst others. One British artist, however, is missing from this mix. Ed Sheeran wrote and provided 3 songs for the franchise, but all of them were turned down.
No one is exactly sure why Lionsgate decided against Ed Sheeran not only once, but three times. Who knows how much his ballads might have switched up the Games?
