20 Behind-The-Scenes Shots That Make Films Look Stupid

15. Planet Of The Apes Take A Break For Lunch

Nowadays audiences aren't impressed by monkeys on their movie screen unless they actually look, act and sound like monkeys. Which is why the modern Planet Of The Apes prequels/reboots have utilised the ground-breaking motion capture technology Andy Serkis pioneered as Gollum in the Lord Of The Rings films, with Serkis taking the lead role of rebel chimp Caesar. Serkis prepared for that role by hanging out with monkeys, only eating bananas all day, and refusing to speak English on set. The cast of the 1968 original Planet of The Apes took it a lot less seriously, but the rudimentary make up and special effects looked pretty great at the time! Less so when you see half-dressed Dr Zaius in a straw hat, being given a straw so he can drink.
