20 Behind-The-Scenes Shots That Make Films Look Stupid
16. 300 Spartans (On A Sound Stage)
Zack Snyder isn't necessarily the best screenwriter or director of performances, but man does he nail the visuals. The guy loves making a good-looking movie. 300 might be the apex of that, a faithful adaptation of Frank Miller's graphic novel about the Spartan battle against the Persian "god-King" Xerxes that almost looked like the comic illustrations come to life. The epic scope and scale of 300 is something to behold on the big screen. In real life, meanwhile, it was a bunch of dorks with baby oil sprayed on their abs, tussling on a sound stage that looks like a high school sports hall, with goofy-looking costumes and a huge expanse of blue to be filled in later with CGI. That is considerably less epic-looking, and considerably more LARP-looking.
