Q (Ben Whishaw) Skyfall While Sam Mendes' glorious Bond film was an extremely retro-feeling affair, with its celebration of the genres conventions and its pleasant little nods to canonical moments, the modern touches were some of the most successful elements. And Ben Whishaw's excellent new take on Q, and his celebration of Desmond Llewellyn's gloriously entertaining friction with 007 was a particular high point.

Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) The Amazing Spider-Man Sam Raimi's Spiderman 3 infamously took Peter Parker's boyish swagger to the extreme, including a ridiculous and ill-conceived Emo Sequence that still makes fans grumble to this day, but the new, younger Spidey rocked a similar (albeit toned down) cockiness that was altogether more successful and lead to humorous moments like Spider-Man's disarming of a knife-wielding assailant.
