20 Best Blu-rays Of 2015

8. Aladdin

Disney continued their rollout of animated classics onto 'Diamond Edition' Blu-ray with what was arguably one of the most anticipated. Regardless of whether Aladdin is your favourite Disney film or not, the Blu-ray has marked itself as a must-have. The inky blacks and vibrant colours of the 90s masterclass-in-animation have never looked so good - it's no wonder that Disney fanatics were so eagerly awaiting this release, as it's the best the film has ever looked. The special features aren't anything to be gawked at either, as in the wake of Robin Williams untimely demise in 2014 we get the most bittersweet bonus feature of them all. Fans of both Aladdin and Williams are gifted an extended selection of 'Genie Outtakes', an additional nine minutes of manic improvisational fun. There's more than one outtake that will have you laughing yourself silly, not to mention feeling nostalgic for when you first saw Aladdin (up to) 24 years ago. The fact that they are accompanied by original animated storyboards is the cherry on top, and a nice gesture from Disney.
Part of the best appeal of this Blu-ray is how mind-blowing the sound is; Aladdin was Oscar-nominated for Best Sound and Best Sound Editing, and with the audio here upgraded to DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 you can really experience why.
