20 Best Ever Quentin Tarantino Characters

8. Zed- Pulp Fiction

pulp_fiction3400 I€™m guessing for a few of you seeing such a brief and rather strange choice as Zed this high in my list may be a bit shocking, but for me the character represents everything great about Tarantino and his style. He is by far one of Tarantino€™s most weird, strange and disturbing creations, and when watching Pulp Fiction for the first time, who has ever guessed that once €˜The Gold Watch€™ begins, that the plot of that segment would take such a shocking and drastic turn. It€™s completely unexpected, violent, original and totally off the wall, so therefore it is everything brilliant about Tarantino, and it€™s all possible thanks to this particular character. Much like Mr. Pink, the character of Zed is very vague, yet also like Mr. Pink, the less we know about Zed the more interesting he becomes as a character. Is he really a policeman? What€™s with the gimp? Is this act of rape and murder a regular occurrence? And what the hell happened to Peter Greene€™s career? The dungeon scene in Pulp Fiction is so iconic and memorable that it has even been parodied by such massive shows as The Simpsons. Much like Pai Mei I think it would be interesting to see other stories about Zed, though I€™m guessing they€™d all have to be prequels as €˜Zed€™s dead baby, Zed€™s dead€™. A guy as interesting and disturbing as Zed surely has some other stories to tell, though hopefully not all involving a gimp and anal rape.
