10. Tell No One
True to its instructive title, Guillaume Canet's adaptation of Harlan Coben's novel is best seen knowing as little as possible, and as such this entry won't give much away. The short shrift of the plot follows Dr. Alex Beck (Francois Cluzet), a bereaved pediatrician who soon enough becomes a suspect in a couple of murders, all while a third party leads Beck to the conclusion that his long-dead wife might, in fact, be alive. It's a flat-out miracle that a movie with plotting this labyrinthine isn't completely confusing, for though Tell No One requires audiences to fiercely pay attention, it's perfectly easy to follow as long as you do that. Cluzet gives a fine performance as a man struggling to keep himself out of jail, and the absurd number of twists and turns throughout make for storytelling that's both deliciously juicy and incredibly smart. Unsurprisingly, a US remake has been in the works for some time, with Liam Neeson rather aptly being cast in the Cluzet role.
