18. Geiger Counter (Dr. No)
The very first instalment of the Bond franchise, Dr. No, actually features very few gadgets, and is certainly no indicator of the direction the films would take in the coming years. It does, however, feature an item very much of its time: a Geiger Counter, used for measuring levels of radioactivity. It's a bulky item that definitely ages the film a little, but with the introduction of Britain's first nuclear power stations around the time of Dr. No's release, the cinema-goers of the era would be fascinated by the device. The gadget served to place James Bond firmly at the cutting-edge of technology right from the outset. Mind you, we are relieved that Q Branch would start stepping up their game a bit the next time round.
