20 Best Movie Performances Of 2018
17. John David Washington (BlacKkKlansman)
Proving that talent sure does run in the family, Denzel Washington's son John David gave a terrifically entertaining performance as real-life Detective Ron Stallworth, the black police officer who, on a whim, successfully infiltrated the Ku Klux Klan.
Though Washington's work isn't at all showy and decidedly less effervescent than his scene-stealing co-star Adam Driver, he's the perfect straight man the movie needs for Spike Lee to execute his daring vision.
As a primer for exploring racism both historic and current, Stallworth is the centre-point around which everything else revolves, and without Washington's tightly controlled yet deeply sympathetic work, it wouldn't be anywhere near as effective.
