18. Mads Mikkelsen - Another Round

Aubrey Plaza Black Bear
Nordisk Film

Thomas Vinterberg's ludicrously entertaining drama makes the absolute most of its enticing premise - about four Danish schoolteachers who attempt to improve their lives by keeping alcohol in their system at all times.

Much of the film's success hangs on the terrific ensemble cast, especially a superb Mads Mikkelsen, who plays depressed teacher Martin.

It takes a lot for an actor as charming as Mikkelsen to convincingly play a pitiable man in the midst of a mid-life crisis, but he absolutely nails it.

It helps that Vinterberg's script is so witty and weaves through the moral issues of the film's premise, in one unforgettably show-stopping scene even allowing Mikkelsen a moment to show off his dancing skills.

For his work on the film, Mikkelsen recently won the European Film Award for Best Actor.
