20 Best Movie Taglines Of All Time

5. The Fly

JAWS 2 TAG
20th Century Fox

The tagline: ‘Be afraid. Be very afraid.’

Another film that tested its audience’s limits was David Cronenberg’s sci-fi horror The Fly in 1986. The key difference being that The Fly is a terrific film, though not one you should ever consider watching around dinner time.

Jeff Goldblum was perfectly cast as scientist Seth Brundle in this loose remake of the stagey 1950s horror of the same name. The eccentric Brundle reveals to journalist Veronica (Geena Davis) that he has created Telepods capable of transferring matter from one pod to another. And when Brundle believes he’s finally cracked the procedure to allow living tissue to be transported, he tests it on himself without realising a housefly came along for the ride.

The tagline comes verbatim from dialogue Davis utters to an unsuspecting Brundle conquest, and it was a savvy choice by the film’s marketeers.

I watch movies and I watch sport. I also watch movies about sport, and if there were a sport about movies I'd watch that too. The internet was the closest thing I could find.
