10. The Edge Of Seventeen
Hailee Steinfeld gives a stunning performance as a socially awkward high-schooler in this cringe-inducingly true-to-life coming-of-age comedy.
There's so much to relate to in this John Hughes-inspired teen drama, whether you're male or female, and whether you were popular in school or a total misfit. It so perfectly burrows inside the anxious mind of a teen, and isn't afraid to make Steinfeld's Nadine frequently unlikable.
Still, behind all the snark and drama, there's a real, beating heart here, and the film isn't afraid to go to some incredibly dark places, while refusing to offer up simplistic, trite solutions to the protagonist's problems.
Oh, and Woody Harrelson is awesome in it as Nadine's long-suffering teacher.
