12. Zootopia

The Nice Guys
Disney

Disney turns in arguably their best film since The Lion King with this beautifully animated, howlingly funny and unexpectedly socially relevant comedy that serves up an important lesson without shoving it down childrens' throats.

The ensemble voice cast, led by Ginnifer Goodwin and Jason Bateman, are splendid, but the real reason Zootopia's getting so much attention is its exceedingly clever engagement with themes of racism, sexism, tolerance and political corruption.

That the film manages to illuminate these ideas to young audiences without sacrificing an entertaining narrative is simply staggering, and whether the inevitable sequel is worthy or not, this is an uncommonly strong effort from the House of Mouse.
