The Russo brothers actually pulled it off, though considering their prior MCU success, was it really all that surprising?

Impressively juggling literally dozens of heroes and villains while telling a shockingly coherent story and finally paying-off Thanos' (Josh Brolin) long-awaited arrival, Avengers: Infinity War is a comic book revelation.

Hilarious, thrilling, intense and ludicrously action-packed, that a superhero climax a decade in the making can be so exceptionally well-paced, shocking and satisfying is practically inconceivable.

Skirting almost entirely clear of narrative bloat, this is a lean, terrifically-executed superhero classic that leaves audiences on what's sure to be an all-timer cliffhanger. Fingers crossed the Russos strike gold once again next year.
