20 Best Movies Of 2018

Alfonso Cuarón's new drama is without question the most personal movie of his career, and perhaps also his most expertly crafted (which, from the director of Gravity, is no mean feat).

A complete change of style and pace for the Mexican filmmaker, Roma tells a fairly simple story through a literally evocative lens, with Cuarón taking on cinematography duties himself and delivering some of the most eye-wateringly beautiful shots of the year.

Seriously, if you have a 4K TV, you have to watch this on Netflix, even if you're not particularly interested in the subject matter.

Yalitza Aparicio gives an astonishing debut performance as put-upon maid Cleo, in a rich period drama that finds beauty and soul in even the most horrifying moments (which Cuarón refuses to look away from).

It's a Best Picture front-runner for a reason, and a stunner that really grows on you with time.
