20 BEST Movies On Disney+

12. Toy Story 2

Avengers Endgame
Disney

There was a good case to be made for each of the Toy Story movies to feature on this list, but the first sequel takes the cake and is the sole entry here from the franchise. Despite an extremely troubled production with the film almost ditched onto direct to video, the animated feature proves to have greater depth and even more thrills than the original.

The film starts off with the toy gang very amicable but also in panic due to an upcoming garage sale. When much loved toy Squeaky finds himself on the selling list, Woody goes to its rescue, but is effectively stolen by a mean spirited businessman who has darker motives for the toy.

The introduction of a new batch of toys keeps the series fresh, Woody's TV co stars Jessie and Bullseye stealing each scene they're in. Buzz takes over the role of leader of the toys as he coordinates a rescue mission to bring back Woody, but the mission hits several unexpected hurdles. The Star Wars parody elements are hilarious, in particular Zorg's 'revelation'.

The voicework is again outstanding, Tom Hanks bringing a range of emotions to Woody beyond most voice actors capabilities. Tim Allen shows his comic flair as multiple Buzzes, while Kelsey Grammar revels as the villainous 'Stinky Pete'. Of course all this great voice work would be for nothing without the stunning computer generated animation, the attention to detail for each character allowing us to truly invest in these endearing characters.
