20 Best Movies Starring The Friends Cast

12. Uprising (David Schwimmer)

Though this 2001 war drama, originally released on NBC as a miniseries, hasn't aged as well as most of the movies on this list, Uprising is nevertheless an absorbing and sharply acted account of the 1943 Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, where the Jewish resistance fought back against the Nazi occupation in Poland.

With an all-star cast including Donald Sutherland, Jon Voight, Hank Azaria, and David Schwimmer, it's easy to appreciate the potential for these famous faces to distract from the altogether more anonymous humanitarian story at its core, but Uprising hits its broad emotional beats effectively enough regardless.

If in 2020 the very notion of the "Holocaust movie" might feel a touch played-out no matter the importance of keeping these stories alive, this is still a well-produced slice of historical fiction, if obviously subject to the inherent constraints of the TV movie format.
