20 Best Netflix 2017 Original Movies - Ranked
19. Small Crimes
Small Crimes is just the sort of small, southern-fried neo-noir film that wouldn't perform well in cinemas but is perfectly suited for streaming, allowing Game of Thrones' Nikolaj Coster-Waldau to deliver without question his best cinematic performance to date, as a disgraced corrupt cop returning home in search of redemption (which, inevitably, is in short supply).
Though it doesn't quite live up to the brilliance of writer-director E.L. Katz's savage 2013 debut Cheap Thrills, the gritty cinematography and absolutely stacked supporting cast (including Robert Forster, Jacki Weaver, Molly Parker, Gary Cole and horror icon Larry Fessenden) undeniably elevate a familiar-but-fun crime thriller.
