18. Wheelman

Frank Grillo is perfectly cast in this taut, 82-minute chase thriller in which Grillo's titular driver puts his vehicular wizardry to the ultimate test as he scrambles to find out who betrayed him.

From aptly-named writer-director Jeremy Rush, Wheelman is set almost entirely in and around the confines of Grillo's car, a neat gimmick which could've felt overly restrictive in lesser hands, but works shockingly well thanks to Rush's dynamic direction and Grillo's grizzled, fearless performance.

There's not much here in terms of a deep plot, and if you're hoping for an all-out action-fest you'll be underwhelmed, but it's nevertheless an impressively-executed, low-budget experiment that shows how limitations can actually benefit a story.
