18. In The Tall Grass

After Netflix absolutely knocked it out of the park with its adaptation of Gerald's Game (and, to a lesser extent, 1922), it's understandable that hopes would be high for another Stephen King adaptation of theirs, In The Tall Grass.

And while the movie doesn't hit the dizzying heights of Gerald's lethal sex game, In The Tall Grass is a stylishly directed and scarily atmospheric little thriller.

It does get a little bit too bizarre as the third act progresses, losing much of that basic unnerving feeling of being lost in an endless field of tall grass, but that being said, those who enjoy the weirder side of King's works will probably find this to be a plus.

Points must also be awarded for just how dedicated Patrick Wilson is to his deranged performance. Seriously, this guy is nuts. He's hammy as hell, but is great fun to watch nonetheless.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for over ten years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. In 2022, he took charge of WhoCulture and has grown it into the biggest Doctor Who channel on YouTube, and one of the biggest Doctor Who communities on the web full-stop. He has been writing and video editing since his early teens, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers, off the back of a burning obsession with the Matt Smith era of the show. Like many his age, he first got into Doctor Who with the 2005 revival, but has since gone back and fallen in love with the classic years too. If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order, or to give you a random factoid about the making of Gridlock, Danny is the person to ask!
