20 Best Performances In Superhero Movies
8. Michael B. Jordan - Erik Killmonger (Black Panther)
Black Panther's Erik Killmonger decisively broke the much-discussed "Marvel villain curse", and it's largely thanks to Michael B. Jordan's stupendous performance in the role.
Though as written the part is already rife with righteous anger about racial inequality and the racism inherent in the world today, Jordan dials the intensity up to 11 and in turn makes Killmonger a shockingly well-rounded, surprisingly sympathetic figure.
Jordan got into incredible shape for the role, of course - or rather, kept in shape following Creed - ensuring Killmonger is as intimidating as he is intelligent and his motives easily understood.
Considering how many were worried that Killmonger would end up nothing more than yet another MCU mirror villain, it's enormously refreshing that he ultimately wound up more interesting than the hero.
Best Moment: Killmonger's absolutely searing death speech: "Bury me in the ocean with my ancestors who jumped from the ships, because they knew death was better than bondage." Shook isn't even the word.
