No matter the wavering quality of the X-Men movies, Hugh Jackman has always been the single constant, and his swan song as Wolverine gave him the best material of his entire run as the character.

With a permissive R rating and a touching father-daughter through-line, Logan allowed Jackman to unleash greater visceral physicality than ever before, while also peeling back the hero's decades of emotional anguish.

Jackman, who should've received a Best Actor Oscar nomination for his performance, gave the ultimate portrayal of a broken down, tired superhero who goes out swinging.

Best Moment: Logan's heart-rending death scene, where he expires while comforted by Laura. In his closing words he tells her, "So this is what it feels like", referring to both death and having a family. It's heavily, tear-jerkingly brilliant.
