20 Best Sci-Fi Films Of The 21st Century
4. Mad Max: Fury Road
Come on, what do we really have to say about Mad Max: Fury Road? Well, something to fill the word count, but words don't do this movie justice, not by one iota.
This film is two hours of savage, unrelenting fury...maybe hence the name. The action sequences are so brutally spectacular and so well choreographed that it is genuinely baffling as to how director George Miller and cinematographer John Seale achieved some of them. Plus, there's a guy blasting out skull-vibrating guitar riffs from the back of a goddamn truck!
Despite the endless violence, there's also something eerily beautiful in the bright, vibrant yet somehow also desolate desert wasteland our heroes find themselves in. Not to mention that Miller manages to somehow achieve the seemingly unachievable: making what amounts to people driving in a straight line for hours just so endlessly freaking entertaining.
We do however have it on good authority that you should in no way go and see this at a cinema whilst intoxicated. You will not have a good time and you will be escorted from the cinema. A friend told us.
