20 Best Superhero Movies Since The Dark Knight

10. The Avengers

An on-screen team-up of the Avengers was the event comic book fans had always dreamed of, so it's not surprising that the hype machine was through the roof when The Avengers came around. But did this movie actually live up to the hype?

No. It exceeded it.

Marvel Studios got this movie so damn right in pretty much every way. They perfectly cast all these heroes, satisfyingly brought them to life on-screen and then placed them in one of the most exhilarating, heart-pumping and well-written superhero narratives ever, in which they face off against one of the genre's greatest villains and get to speak a ton of absolutely electric dialogue, courtesy of writer/director Joss Whedon.

Simply put, this movie is a complete and utter blast in every sense, and while it's not the most emotionally engaging thing ever, the non-stop laughs and some of the best action scenes in the history of the genre more than compensate.

Basically, if you're looking for a good time, it would be hard to do much better than this.
