20 Best Superhero Movies Since The Dark Knight

9. Avengers: Endgame

Avengers: Endgame is another film that brilliantly displays just how unfair all those accusations of superhero movies being entirely bankrupt on a narrative level really are. Endgame was not only following up to Infinity War's devastating cliffhanger ending, but it was wrapping up 22 films worth of story... and it did this so unbelievably well.

Avengers: Endgame is an absolutely glorious tour-de-force of blockbuster storytelling that hits many soaring emotional highs and delivers a huge number of fantastic narrative pay-offs while still providing a treasure-trove of delirious thrills. It also features the cast doing some of their very best MCU work, and Anthony and Joe Russo once again reaffirm themselves as the MCU's finest directors with their terrific job here.

It has its dips, some things feel too convenient, and Thanos' (Josh Brolin) role is somewhat mishandled, so it's not perfect nor is it the finest MCU film to date, but Endgame is definitely up there among the franchise's impressive line-up.

It's a splendid marvel of a movie (sorry) and frankly, the MCU should've ended here. The franchise is declining in quality and they're never going to be able to top this, are they?
