20 Best Superhero Movies Since The Dark Knight
5. Avengers: Infinity War
The film that finally brought nearly all of the MCU's heroes together on-screen, Avengers: Infinity War was an event movie in every possible way. It was a film that pretty much everyone was anticipating... and a film that no-one was actually ready for.
Even now, the thought of that ending is still enough to wind you.
Of course, the greatest cliff-hanger in movie history is the thing that people remember most about Infinity War, but really, the entire thing is a genre masterpiece.
Superbly blending mind-blowing spectacle, gut-bursting comedy, brilliant acting and unforgettably powerful emotional storytelling, Infinity War is a ferocious, bruising and enthralling colossus of a movie that's as ridiculously entertaining as it is emotionally devastating.
It also has Thanos (John Brolin); the version we see of him in this movie is the greatest superhero movie villain EVER. That's right, he's better than Heath Ledger's Joker.
The MCU does get plenty of flak from some audiences and that's understandable; its films definitely won't be to all tastes. But this movie - and the overwhelming cultural impact it had worldwide - is a testament to how good Marvel Studios are at what they do.
Still, it's not quite the best MCU film though...
