20 Best Superhero Movies Since The Dark Knight

16. Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2

Kick-Ass Captain America The Winter Soldier The Batman
Marvel Studios

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is, for your writer, the most underrated movie on this list. Seriously, why isn't this picture more popular?

The second outing for these much-loved characters begins with one of the greatest opening scenes in film history - and yes, that's said in all seriousness - and somehow keeps a similar level of momentum nearly all the way through.

It's arguably the funniest MCU film, it's definitely the most visually stunning, and from start to finish, the laughs, cheers, gasps and razor-sharp needle drops never stop flowing. It doesn't top the original film, but damn does it come impressively close.

It's also got one of superhero cinema's finest villains in the form of Kurt Russell's Ego, and this really doesn't deserve to be described as a disappointing follow-up. It deserves to be remembered as one of the Marvel Cinema's Universe's most accomplished films to date.
