20 Best & Worst Movies From 2019 Oscar Nominees
14. Olivia Colman
Best: The Favourite (2018)
Anyone familiar with the best TV shows emerging from Britain in the past couple of decades will know all about how great Olivia Colman is. She's basically our biggest treasure and it's only right she ought to be shared with the world, which is now happening a little more thanks to The Favourite.
Her performance as the hair-trigger, regal brat Queen Anne is mesmerising and even more impressive in the wider context of her career. Knowing her to be a warm, hugely likeable figure pulling his face off is rewarding on a whole new level.
Worst: Cuban Fury (2014)
Hyde Park On Hudson is a low point, but British "comedy" Cuban Fury, which aims to occupy the same space as Strictly Ballroom and fails miserably, landing with a thud somewhere around over-sentimentality and poor female representation with salsa. If that floats your boat, you're weird.
