As Suicide Squad released to predominantly negative reviews, word emerged on the movie's troubled production, not only writer-director David Ayer's battling against Warner Bros. on the final cut, but also the fact that he reportedly only had six weeks to write the script.

Due to Warner Bros. not wanting to shift from their August release date, Ayer had to rush to cobble the script together, and so it's not terribly surprising the end result ended up so ridiculously messy. Honestly, with barely a month to get things in order, it's almost impressive it wasn't a lot worse.

Plus, considering Ayer's pretty solid filmmaking track record, it makes it harder to entirely blame him for the movie's issues.
